Hajime Machida, despite being a completely average teenager, is adored by his family, friends, and even his classmates. Machida-kun no Sekai won the 19th Japan Media Arts Festival New Face Award in 2015. In 2016, the series won the 20th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize New Creator Prize. It was also nominated for the ninth Manga Taisho Award and placed eighth in the final ranking.
