Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei originally was published as a web novel series on Shousetsuka ni Narou website (小説家になろう) between October 12, 2008 and March 21, 2011. The first official volume was published on July 8, 2011 by Ascii Media Works under Dengeki Bunko label. The series has been published in English as The Irregular at Magic High School by Yen Press under the Yen On imprint since April 19, 2016.
